SBW Wafer Ball Valves

The SBW ball valve is ideally suited for shutting off, regulating, and throttling corrosive or toxic process media in liquid or gaseous form.

In the wafer version, it is installed between flanges in accordance with EN 1092-1, PN 16 / 40, and its lightweight design allows for compact integration into the piping system.

ISO Flange

Upper flange conforming to ISO 5211 for direct mounting of actuators, which simplifies integration into automated systems. Swissfluid AG ball valves do not require an ISO mounting kit; the actuator can be mounted directly.

Sealing System

The innovative, self-adjusting sealing system ensures reliable, high-performance operation even under critical conditions—with extended, maintenance-free cycles. The latest TA-Luft zero-emission certification (EN ISO 15848-1), which guarantees environmental safety and compliance.

Low-dead-space design

Thanks to the design with minimal dead space, less fluid remains inside the valve—ensuring maximum process reliability, hygiene, and easy cleaning. Swissfluid’s SMART ball seats not only eliminate dead space but also reduce wear.

Metal-on-metal

(Constant bias) This ensures greater reliability under thermal cycling; heavy-duty, robust construction, maintenance-free, and guarantees easy grounding of the valve for ATEX applications.

Main Features

Maintenance-free spindle seal that requires no readjustment

The preloaded spindle seal with a disc spring eliminates the need for external readjustment of the packing and reduces the associated risk of leakage. Complies with TA-Luft standards ex works.

One-piece duplex ball and spindle

Forged from a single piece of duplex stainless steel, 25% stronger than ductile iron. The overload protection is located outside the valve and is designed to prevent leaks.

Metal-Sealed Housing Connection

The pipeline forces are absorbed by the flange. This prevents thermal expansion from being transmitted to the lining, the seats, or the stem seal. The valve remains leak-tight throughout its entire service life.

Housing designed for maximum durability

The 1.0619 cast steel housing offers an extended operating temperature range and greater strength than ductile iron. The 1.4408 cast stainless steel version offers high corrosion resistance.

Direct ISO 5211 drive connection

The drive connection allows for direct mounting of a drive without an additional mounting kit. Lower weight, more compact design, and no hysteresis in the control loop.

The SBW is designed as a wafer-type ball valve for use in piping systems with corrosive or toxic process media. The valve is suitable for liquid and gaseous media and can be used for shutoff, control, and throttling.

The version for intermediate flanges according to EN 1092-1, PN 16/40 allows for compact integration into the piping system. The robust and maintenance-free design with self-adjusting sealing systems ensures reliable operation even under demanding process conditions.The body, made of cast stainless steel 1.4408 (CF8M), is available with chemically resistant linings made of PFA or electrically conductive PFA-AS.

The one-piece, jacketed ball and shaft, as well as the metal-to-metal connection between the housing halves with self-adjusting permanent preload, ensure a robust design. The stem sealing mechanism with self-adjusting preload prevents leaks at the stem and enables maintenance-free operation.

A hand lever is provided as standard for manual operation. Alternatively, the valve can be equipped with a free shaft for easy installation of actuators. The integrated ISO flange allows for direct mounting of standard actuators.

The SBW also features a consistently low torque and high flow rate with minimal pressure loss. The design meets the requirements of TA Luft VDI 2440 and ISO 15848-1 and is FDA-compliant.
